Congratulations! To all the AQHYA members who represented Arkansas at
the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show held on August 4 – 11 in Fort
Worth, Texas. At press time the competition is just about half over. Of the
events that have occurred, Arkansas can boast to several placings in the
competition.
The Arkansas Youth won first place in the Division 2 scrapbook contest for
the second year in a row. Rachel Pendegraft and Brent Dorn were named the
champions in the inaugural team demonstration competition with their
overview of preparing for a showmanship class. Kyle Fuller and Josh Faulkner
(N Carolina) won the potpourri division of the talent competition with their
version of Cross Canadian Ragweed’s “Alabama.”
The Arkansas team also won 2nd place in both the Wrangler jeans and the
Justin boots decorating contest with a razorback theme. In the horse show
competition Arkansas is off to a great start with the following awards in the
speed events: Barrels – Whitney Clement (top 15 finalist) and Lane Smith (8th
place), Poles – Hannah Harmon (9th place) and Lane Smith (10th place), and
Stakes – Hannah Harmon (Reserve World Champion) and Lane Smith (3rd
place). Events still to go include Trail, Western Pleasure, Hunter under
Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Halter. We will have coverage of the
additional placings in next month’s article. Results can be accessed through

The Region Nine Experience will be held in Jackson on August 16-19, 2007.
The regional show is designed for those exhibitors who want a larger show
experience, but may not want to compete on the world or congress level.
They also have great prizes through 5th place. There are many fun and
learning activities available, including clinics by
AQHA Professional Horsemen, as well as great shopping and free test rides

The Fall Fun Run is rapidly approaching - September 21-23. It will be at
Hestand Stadium. The weekend will include an NBHA Super Show and an
NPBA regional qualifying show. $5000 will be added with 16 wild cards
available. Deadline for pre-entry is September 1, 2007. Late entries will be
accepted on site for an additional $20 per person. Information and entry

The dates for the Fall Trail Ride have been set for October 12-14 at the
Rafter D Ranch in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. This will be the grand opening of
this ranch to the public. The weekend will feature many exciting and
educational activities for the whole family. Details are still being worked out,

current ArQHA points are available. Remember to be eligible for a year-end
award, you must have at least 10 points in the event and be in the Top 6. The
last show to count for points will be the Arkansas Breeders Show October 5-7,
